Pulled Pork Sandwiches You’ll Crave

Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy the food we all love to love: a pulled pork sandwich on buns topped off with chipotle cream sauce and pickled jalapeno salsa. One thing that makes this sandwich extra special is the use of toasted brioche buns. They have been soaked in the pan before being grilled over a medium high flame for 3 minutes before being placed on top of the cooked meat.

Chipotle Cream Sauce Recipe:

1/2 cup sour cream
1 tbsp chipotle paste
2 tbsp chopped pickled jalapeno or regular pickled jalapeno
3 tbsp softened butter
1 tbsp minced garlic

How to cook pulled pork: Place the pulled pork in your favorite slow cooker. Cook on a high setting for 6 to 8 hours (max.) Place the meat on a cutting board and shred with two forks.

You can add your favorite barbecue sauce or create a simple one, such as mixing together ketchup, vinegar, and honey. You can make your sauce kick by adding spices such as cayenne pepper, paprika and ground cinnamon.

Toast brioche buns over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side before swapping to the other side to avoid burning it. Top with pulled pork with chipotle cream sauce and enjoy!

Sides to consider with pulled pork sandwiches are :

• Fried pickles: this is one of my favorite side dishes. They are breaded in corn meal, dipped in buttermilk and deep fried so they aren’t swimming in grease.

• Cole slaw: a mild green cabbage with low-fat mayo mixed in. It’s hard to keep the fat content down, but it’s worth trying.

• Baked beans: don’t be fooled by this side dish. It may be from a can, but it is cooked. There are lots of ways you can dress up the beans to make them special: add brown sugar, bacon and maple syrup. If you want things spicy, add some cayenne pepper too.

Pulled pork sandwiches are one of my favorite dishes. I love the combination of flavors and textures, and it reminds me of going to county fairs as a kid. There were always great booths where you could get great pulled pork sandwiches. The pork was always glazed with sauce and topped with pickling spices. To this day, I still love pulled pork and think about it often. The best part of a pulled pork sandwich is that you can eat it with anything! You can serve it hot or cold. You can place it on a bun, in a lettuce wrap or eat it plain.
